These paper prefilters are used in the 9" round vacuum filter press (FPR9RVAC). They are designed for single use, however can be rinsed with hot water and reused a few times. Using prefilters will increase the amount of syrup filtered through the synthetic filter before it clogs with sediment. Some producers will layer multiple prefilters on top of the final filter, and remove them incrementally as filtering slows.

A prefilter is not intended to filter syrup on its own.
